今日のテキスト GREENLAND ICE MAY AFFECT CLIMATE

Scientists warn that changes in the snow and ice sheets of Greenland could affect global climate.
Researchers from the Japan Meteorological Agency and other organizations are studying why snow and ice covering Greenland is melting rapidly. Scientists have found that, as the temperature rises, the size of the snow particles increases. The larger particles absorb more sunlight.
Researchers also found that sunlight causes microbes in the ice sheets to grow. Their presence darkens the surface of the ice and further increases light absorption.
Climate scientists say this increased absorption of sunlight in Greenland is causing the ice to melt faster. They say this may accelerate global warming.
