今日のテキスト RESIDENTS TO RECEIVE COMPENSATION

Officials in the Chinese city of Tianjin are offering more help to people affected by last week's deadly warehouse explosions. They've reportedly decided to pay evacuation costs to residents who lost their homes. Authorities have confirmed 114 deaths, but say they still don't know the cause of the blasts.
Residents held a rally on Monday demanding compensation for their damaged homes. The state-run Xinhua news agency reported the city will pay them the equivalent of three months' rent, but many people are worried about the environment. Workers are still cleaning up chemicals at the explosion sites. Officials say about 700 tons of sodium cyanide were in the warehouses at the time.

"We can't go home because the area is contaminated. I can't raise my nine-year-old daughter in that kind of environment."

State-run media reports say 17,000 households were affected by the explosions. Many of them were in high-rise condominiums. Residents have been demanding the government buy their homes.
