今日のテキスト ATMOSPHERIC CO2 HITS RECORD HIGH

U.S. weather officials say the monthly global average concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere hit an all-time high in March. They say greater efforts must be made to curb global warming.
Experts at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or NOAA, analyzed data from 40 locations around the world. They say the global average for CO2 was 400.83 parts per million. They say topping 400 ppm is a significant milestone.
Carbon dioxide density tends to increase from winter to spring each year, and is likely to fall in summer when vegetation becomes more abundant. NOAA officials forecast that the monthly density will remain above 400 ppm through May. They warn that emissions from fossil fuels must be cut by 80 percent to stop the rise in CO2 concentration.
