今日のテキスト COURT BLOCKS REACTOR RESTART

A court in central Japan has issued an injunction in a case with implications for the nuclear power industry. It has prohibited the operator of a power plant from bringing two of its reactors back online.
The Fukui District Court said the reactors at the Takahama nuclear plant in central Japan should not be allowed to restart. A group of residents had asked the court to keep them offline. They said the equipment isn't safe.
Officials at the operator, Kansai Electric, said they've taken sufficient measures. Japan's nuclear regulators put in place new requirements after the crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi plant. In February, they decided the two reactors at Takahama satisfied the guidelines.
The presiding judge said it would be optimistic to assume there wouldn't be a major quake near the plant.
He also said meeting the nuclear regulators' requirements doesn't mean the reactors are safe. He said the standards are too lax. The court decision means the reactors will remain offline pending an appeal.
