今日のテキスト A DIFFERENT CANVAS

A work of art is attracting tourists to a small farming village in northeastern Japan. Villagers created a picture in a rice field, using the materials they know best.
They grew different rice crops to make the picture. It recreates a scene from a legend about Mount Fuji and a heavenly maiden wearing a robe of feathers. The work commemorates Mount Fuji's registration as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site last year. They planted 10 varieties of rice plants to create the different colors in the picture.
Visitors were amazed to see such a range of colorful rice plants. The art is to remain on display through mid-August.
