今日のテキスト TOSHIBA DATA LEAK ARREST

Tokyo police have arrested an engineer they believe leaked industrial secrets. They suspect he passed high-tech research data owned by Toshiba to a rival firm in South Korea.
The engineer is accused of leaking the data six years ago. He was working for a semiconductor manufacturer based in the U.S. The American firm and Toshiba were jointly developing a type of flash memory known as NAND.
Police say the suspect copied research data at a plant in Japan and passed it to the South Korean firm SK Hynix. They arrested him for breaking a law that prohibits unfair competition.
Flash memory is one of Toshiba's key products. It's used in smartphones and portable music players.
Japan's top government spokesman says the country needs to safeguard its technological expertise. He says officials are trying to help businesses protect their intellectual property.
