今日のテキスト XI BACKS DIALOGUE WITH TAIWAN

China's president has stressed his willingness to promote political dialogue with Taiwan in a meeting with a former leader of Taiwan's ruling party. Last week, China and Taiwan held their first ministerial-level meeting since their split in 1949.
Xi Jinping met with the Nationalist Party's honorary chairman, Lien Chan, in Beijing. China's state-run Xinhua News Agency says Xi highly evaluated the ministerial-level talks. He reportedly said the two sides had gained many common perceptions that will lead to the peaceful development of cross-strait relations.
Xi was also quoted as renewing his call for consultations with Taiwan under the "one China" principle. Lien reportedly said there will be no turning back on the path to the peaceful development of China-Taiwan ties.
The ministerial-level meeting marked a new stage for the two sides to strengthen their political relations, but Taiwan is still reluctant to engage in political dialogue that could lead to unification. Lien is visiting China with about 80 business people and other representatives from Taiwan.
