A Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was given to Pope Francis has been auctioned in Paris. It fetched a much higher than expected price of 240,000 euros, or about 320,000 dollars.
The pope signed his name, "Francesco," on the gas tank and then the motorcycle was auctioned to raise money for charity. The organizer says more than 30 bidders applied to take part in the auction.
The pope donated the custom 2013 Dyna Super Glide and a leather riding jacket to a charity organization in Rome last year. The leather jacket signed by the pope was auctioned for about 78,000 dollars.
The charity says it will use the funds raised at the auction to renovate a soup kitchen and hostel for the homeless.
